Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep
Adewale Ogunleye signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted rookie free agent defensive end in 2000 after a severe knee injury derailed a promising college career at Indiana. Once healthy, Ogunleye proved he was an absolute steal, starting opposite Jason Taylor and registering 9.5 sacks in 2002 and an AFC leading 15 sacks in 2003. Following a trip to the Pro Bowl, Ogunleye was traded to the Chicago Bears prior to the 2004 season and helped lead the Bears to an appearance in Super Bowl XLI the following year. In The Tank, “Wale” discusses his grandfather, the King of Emure-Ekiti in Nigeria, how a friendship with Dave Wannstedt’s daughter in college helped him land with the Dolphins, the characters that made up the defensive line meeting room, and why he was a frequent visitor at OJ’s house despite rarely touching the hoop court.
